The New year was really fun. Although I had a chest infection and was quite sick I managed to make it out to see the fireworks by the London Eye. We had a great time, there were people everywhere and the atmosphere was cool. Ive always wanted to come up to London to see them so it was a great way to bring in 2009.

I have great hopes for this year. Already we have planned some trips! We cant live without having something to enjoy and memories to make.

Mums Birthday Treat

For a special birthday treat for mum we organised a trip to Gaucho Picadilly for dinner before we saw Joseph and his amazing technicolour dreamcoat. The restaurant was so cool, it had such a great atmosphere. The mood lighting was really dark so you could barely see the food. Its an argentine steak restaurant which serves the best meat in London. Its not for any veggies! We had a great time chatting and catching up with everyone.

We then strolled through trafalgar sq to get to the strand where the theatre is. Joseph was such a great show, I was singing along and enjoyed every minute!

Lonely in London

Today was really stressful with the markets how they are and we are all working crazy hours. I worked late, had to buy dinner and came home to an empty dark flat. It was so lonely walking through the tube, there were no smiley faces no one to say hello to. This place is really hard sometimes...
I know I need to appreciate the good things about living here but sometimes its just so hard to.

Wee Scotland

This weekend we flew to Endinburgh for Ryan's birthday trip from me. We arrived about midnight and had the task of getting to our tiny little rental car and drove to our hotel for our only night in the city. Our hotel was dodgy and I didn't really want to take my jacket off! It was freezing. The only good thing was that we woke up and got out of there about 8am!

We decided to drive to Loch Ness, it was awesome. We drove through Glencoe which was completely breathtaking, we stopped a number of times and saw so much natural beauty. It was great for us to get out of the city and breathe in some fresh air. I loved Loch Ness the best as we walked around Urquhart Castle. Scotland was so beautiful, I enjoyed the trip so much its close to England but felt like a completely different world.

Last weekend I went home to see my friends and family. Was so much fun to meet my friend Natalie's baby Finley, he was gorgeous and was great to see her and Lindsey too. We had a great meal at our favourite southend restaurant the Pipe of Port. We had chicken and Chestnut Pie! yummy! I also caught up on all the gossip with Becky and Kirby, so much always seems to happen. It was really nice to be back in my real home :)

Im kind of into Big Brother at the moment, its super addictive and Ry even likes it too. i think thats because we live in the city and all we seem to do is work, watch big brother, sleep, work, watch big brother.... Hahah it sounds depressing and it has been a little bit recently the weather has been awful. I don't even remember the last time i sunbathed. Sunbathing is a passion of mine so im understandably extremely jealous of Joey and Dans up and coming trip! They get married then go travelling the world for 5 months. In a flash they will make my trips look minimal this year. They leave tomorrow from Heathrow so are staying over at ours tonight. First stop is LA, then Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, China, and Thailand. Im so green with envy right now... :( I dont want to work everyday knowing all the amazing memories they are going to be making.

I dont really have more of an update than that! Apart from I have a really good new mascara, but me getting excited about that seems a bit lame...
Im missing out on buying so many clothes since we moved in I have so much less money. Living in the real world just isnt too much fun.

Thursday night I went out for some drinks after work with some work friends. I had a great night, although I managed to hurt my poor hand. I was wearing high wedge platform heels, which didnt help! i fell over a small wall literally a few feet from our apartment. I didnt feel the pain for a few hours, i was then screaming at Ry telling him it was broken! a bit dramatic but i couldnt help it! I was at work and saw the nurse on friday morning, i was thinking she would just strap it up, but no she told me to go to hospital! i spent 4 hours in there had an x ray and now have my wrist in a splint. I have to wear this for 10 days. I can only type one handed which is a pain! I have to go to the fracture unit a week on monday to check it out again. I feel a bit stupid, and it still hurts. It makes me feel blessed to have such great health, ive noticed just how hard it is to do anything one handed.

Highgate Cemetery

Today was a fantastic day. My dad stayed over with us on friday night, we spent the night chatting together which was great as I do miss seeing him a lot. We woke up pretty early and headed over to Hampsted Heath, its such a beautiful part of the city. It really felt like we had been transported to somewhere miles and miles from where we live but its really not that far. We spent some time walking around and taking in the amazing views from Parliament Hill. My Dad then decided he wanted to swim in the outdoor ponds, they are freezing but he is crazy so I expected nothing less!

We then treked up to Highgate Cemetery, I had never really heard about it before today. It was incredible, covered 17 acres and was built in 1839. We learnt a lot about the history of the Victorians and the stories of those who were buried there. I would definitely recommend a tour around it.

I had a great day, working my mind body and soul. :) and then I pigged out on Ben and Jerrys ice cream tonight to treat myself!!

So our suitcases were lost on the way home to London, luckily we filed reports and actually got them back two days later. I was so unusually calm ( considering I had some super cute Banana Republic clothes in there!) so I now have my camera and all the wedding shots so I thought I should upload some of my favourite ones! The party in the evening was pretty raucous and full of some crazy dance moves. I have so many great memories it was an awesome celebration!

The wedding day has been and gone in such a blur, it was a truly magical day. Joey looked incredible and had the day she always dreamed of which was what it was all about. I cried the whole way through the vows ( i didnt know i was so emotional!) I was so so happy and i think everyone else shared in their happiness and love that day. We were blessed from above with such warm summer weather. Congratulations Joey!!!

Ry turned 27 on tuesday, I think he had a great time! We stayed up til midnight the night before so he could open his presents (you'd think he was 12) it was fun though, i also made him a birthday cake. A birthday treat for Ry was the cinema and mexican food, i have to agree thats my idea of a good night too. As usual we had fun, its also the year anniversary of him moving to London. Its gone so quickly i have no idea where the time went. We've travelled, laughed, cried, both moved away from our family and friends, challenged our ideas, thoughts, everyday we seem to challenge what we think. Its been hard but living with Ry its always fun. Im always laughing with him!

As part of my present we are going to Edniburgh for a weekend in September. It should be beautfiul that time of year :)

Recently I've had a lot on my mind, one minute I'm fine and can feel quite positive about work and stuff, but other times I just want to do anything but get up and go there. Its such an intense time right now, having moved in, moving away from my friends and family its hard to remember who you are, I just want to focus on who im going to be. My life has changed and I know I can only rely on myself to get through all of this.

Last weekend I was lucky enough to go to Spain with my lovely sisters and Mum to celebrate Joeys last few days as a free woman before her wedding. The weather was incredible and we had a great time chilling out on the beach, drinking sangria (them not me!) and reading our books. It was so relaxing, I had a lovely time.

We had an amazing weekend of Hen do activities, unfortunately I ended up losing the clay pigeon shooting winning a wooden spoon! Oh well, Joey, Jen, Catz and Mum all came joint second so did actually put me to shame. We then had a great BBQ and drinkies at joeys while she got ready and had her hair done in an awesome curly up do. It looked fab and she looked so different. We then got in our tacky white limos up to london to a really posh place called Floridita which played funky salsa music, we sipped mai tais and cosmopolitons, it was all very Sex and the City!

Today I had an eye test for the first time in a few years, I have been having problems seeing far away so I knew something was up! Unfortunately I was told im short sighted. :( But on the bright side I treated myself to some cool funky Prada glasses they are a bit ugly betty esque. I hope they suit me, I pick them up on Monday. Fingers crossed I can see the screen at the cinema on Sunday im going to see SATC with my bestest friend Becky! Finally, should be so much fun I cannot wait.

The other week I went out with some girlfriends to Dans le noir. It’s a restaurant where you eat in complete darkness, the waiters are blind and you don’t know what you are going to eat! We had such a fantastic trip to Rome, it was a much more interesting place than Venice. We ate ice creams at every opportunity and pizza of course. I loved all the history, and it was even better when we took guided tours around the colloseum and the vatican. The weather was amazing the whole time ( apart from one rainy afternoon) We stayed in the weirdest room one time though with its own shower in the actual room not the bathroom, i have some photos but they show rys butt so may not put them up here! Im looking forward to getting the computer set up so i can update this properly! xxx

Right now i'm reading, Men are from Mars Women are from Venus. Ive obviously heard of this book already - who hasnt! As Ry and I are moving in i thought it might be a good one to read! Im half way through and its really good,thing is Ry isnt the sterotypical man, although i understand half of what they are saying he doesn't seem to fit the type they are describing. Which is great news for me, it is pretty funny in places, where it describes what women say and what they actually mean - even funnier how men respond by not even listening!

I definitely am glad to be from Venus!

London Marathon! - CTW

Every year we are encouraged to take part in a Community Teamworks. This year ive managed to get a place on the London Marathon project. This coming Sunday is the London Marathon, we have to hand out goody bags at the Mall. The route is as follows - At approximately 6 ½ miles runners go around the Cutty Sark in Greenwich. Then the course goes through Surrey Quays, Bermondsey and along Jamaica Road before reaching Tower Bridge at around 12 miles. The runners then cross the Thames, turning east along The Highway through Wapping to the Isle of Dogs, before returning back along The Highway passing the Tower of London at 22 ½ miles.The route now follows the Thames along the Embankment up to the Houses of Parliament where it turns toward St James's Park and Buckingham Palace, finishing in The Mall. This is where we will be standing handing out goody bags to the finishers. Should be a great day!!

Our trip to paradise

I have added the Thailand photos, think i may have added a few more than once! sorry bout that. Anyway thought i would give a little summary of what we did.

Its pretty far to get there! although i managed to sleep the whole way to bangkok - lucky me! so we took a plane from Bangkok to Phuket where we spent the first 4 days at the marriott, it was really really luxurious and we just laid around and ate alot and spent a ton of money!! We then got the boat over to Ko Phi Phi where we spent 2 days, there are photos of be modelling our new home! a bungalow near the beach with a toilet come shower thing! As you can imagine it was a bit of a come down but we ended up enjoying it! Ko Phi Phi had a very cool vibe and was more of a party island than Phuket. We then went over to Krabi and stayed in a place called Raliay which is only accessible by boat. Was amazingly beautiful there, so unspoilt with picturesque scenery wherever you looked.

We did a couple of trips one to Phi Phi Ley where they filmed "the Beach", and a kayaking tour too. Apart from that we really just enjoyed the sunshine scenery and relaxation. Id love to go back one day... :)

So far I have managed to raise £218 for my charity walk this Sunday. People at work have been more than generous and im really grateful for all their donations. The money goes to StrokeBusters to help stroke patients and ensure that Southend has one of the top units in the country.

Our holiday is finally over, back to our desks we go. Today was pretty hard and I dont really know how i have my eyes open right now! maybe im over the tiredness. Our trip was amazing, Thailand really is a completely different world away. It couldnt of been a sharper shock of reality when we landed back to the icy breeze of London.

I cant wait to upload the photos and videos. I will be doing this at the weekend :)

The time has come for me to move out of home, gone are the days of spending my money on magazines, tiffany, shoes, bags the list goes on and on!! Ill have to spend it on bills gas, electricity, food etc, but there are some upsides. I cant wait to have my own space other than one room and the chance to be in London.

There are so many things to do in London and I cant wait to be closer to work and have the ease of working late and not having to rush home for anything. i also think it will be great to be able to make a life for myself! We have managed to get a really nice apartment with 2 balconys 2 bedrooms for when people stay over :) a lovely big lounge space and it also comes with furniture so its going to be easy to move in. Well maybe not easy! i have so much stuff...

Ive seen some lovely furnishings I would like to get from Next and John Lewis online, not sure how much money we have for these kind of things yet. We have kind of overstreched ourselves by booking 5 trips this year already. In June just before the wedding im going to spain with my mum and sisters for some sun and sangria to chill joeys nerves before the big day!

I know i need to stop spending my money on clothes but i couldnt resist as i am on holiday as of the 12th March! Yes! so i bought 5 dresses 4 tops and a bikini, all of which i didnt need. I can see Rys point when he tells me i spend too much on stuff i dont really need but living at home with lots of extra cash is not going to last so i think i should treat myself! I found some great summer dresses that are so easy to wear and look great on the beach, the only problem i am going to have is trying to get it all in one suitcase. It seems i either take to much or take too little, i can never get it just right. I have no problem wearing the same stuff again but i change mood so easily i like to change my clothes to match it!

Ive always wanted to be a minmal kind of gal which i am in many respects but i get bored quite easily and like to mix things up. I change my blog quite regularly as i like seeing how great it could look.
This afternoon i had my hair cut at a salon my close friend lindsey recommended. It was great i just had a trim and a fringe cut in. Cant wait for some sun so it goes a little lighter..Although ive always wondered what id look like as a brunette.....

The books im reading..

At the moment I have a few books on the go, I recently read the modern maidens handbook to blameless living. I found some things quite informative and others were just the polar opposite of how I would like to live my life and the standards I set for myself. I wouldnt recommend it but i took a few things from it - cant really ask anymore than that!

Last month I read the road less travelled, I loved this book and found myself relating to quite a lot of the behaviours and patterns. Although I wouldnt say I have an interest in Psychology ( I failed my A Level! ) I do like delving more into topics than the surface allows. The world is very superficial at times and i think its important to reach into yourself and learn more about who you are. I love to write as I feel its the only way I really expand and grow.

I have a number of books im saving for holiday, there really is nothing better than a beach, a cocktail and a good book! :)

I received a beautiful gift in the post yesterday. I walked into my room to find it lovingly laid on my bed! It had really cool design on it and couldnt wait to rip it open. Nancy had sent me a beautiful gift for my birthday! Its a wonderfully soft pillow, the softest ive ever felt. Ry is fighting me for it but he can carry on hoping :) The package also contained a very interesting book, im sure I will learn a lot from reading it.

I had a wonderful birthday and was telling everyone that i was into candles, so I perhaps told too many people :) its candle overload, my room has never smelt so scrumptious. Right now im trying to find a cool, pretty cheap place to stay in Venice. I'm not sure its going to be the most easy task. It seems such an expensive city. Hostels so far are about £200 for two nights and thats a Hostel! Ive learned a valuable lesson recently. "Its all about compromise" This is ringing true for most things with me right now. Being with someone who is a different culture and lifestyle to you challenges your thoughts and ideals constantly. This is one thing i love and one thing i hate, it means that something very simple can turn out to be such a huge mountain to climb, but also means that you learn a lot too, seeing something from someone elses point of view makes you more well rounded and the ability to adapt yourself is a good skill to have.

Im trying to adapt to most things, im far from perfect and am finding it quite difficult.

So I havent updated this for a while as ive been busy doing so many things I never thought that I would. Im really living up to my goals for 2008 and I really feel I am pushing myself to do things.

Its been a rollercoaster of emotions but I finally feel its leveling out, work is ok and although im not totally ok with some things I can at least be happy with myself for making an effort.

Its my birthday tomorrow and im turning 24, not that old but old enough! :) im going to see dirty dancing tonight and I have a meal tomorrow planned with my family, Wed night im seeing my 3 best friends at a cool mexican restaurant in Westcliff, they wear the huge hats and drink tequila with worms in, ( I don’t think we will be doing the last part!!!).

My sister Jen got engaged on top of a mountain in Canada last week! -what a cool location, im sure its one she will never forget. She seems extremely happy and has a wonderful ring and a wonderful few weeks left enjoying herself before she comes back to England.
Im happy for her and hope things are as she wants them to be.

Im also reading a great book at the moment called - "Remind me again why I need a man" Its set in Ireland and is about a woman in her late 30s going through some seriously funny events. She has to revisit all her past relationships and find out where she went wrong, but its not really about the relationships its about her friends and her ability to see through what she once saw. So far one exboyfriends is a monk, one is gay, one is in a psychiatric ward, the list goes on!! I really recommend it.

My beautiful mumma went in for an operation today to help her hip get better and to increase her quality of life. Ive been quite worried about the idea but in the end she should be able to have so much more mobility it will be fantastic for her. Everything went ok and she is recovering well, we are looking forward to her coming home. We all love her very much and hope to make the next 6 weeks she has recovering as fun as possible. She has started knitting already so im sure she will have made something huge by the end of it!

Goals for 2008

Right!! Goals for 2008 are as follows, dance as well as Shakira! (never going to happen!), take a real interest in my job or at least the financial markets, it could be a good idea to read the Financial Times at least once a month?? haha does that even help? I have tried to read it I just find it so dull. Im not interested in the markets and all that stuff, maybe im in the wrong job! Oh well I can always attempt that one, im not sure I will be able to follow it into 2009. Id like to read more broadly, recently ive found myself flitting from one to another and I really want to read something with substance. I would love to learn a new language not sure a few words of spanish really count as an attempt last year.

What else are great new year goals? I dont think I have found my perfect Job, but does it exist? I have thought a travel writer could combine a few of the things i love the most? Or a cook? or a Family Lawyer, Im not sure that I would like to continue studying. Well having some ideas is always good. My family are always off doing stuff and it really expands all our minds, I want to do something crazy like jumping out of a plane. Maybe I will :)

This year id like to discover my more spirtual side, ive always been scared of being more open and real as it doesnt come naturally and thats what 2008 should be for me, the year to discover places, thoughts, adventures and activities that I dont find easy. I need a new challenge. I feel so positive for the up and coming months, even turning 24 doesnt bother me. Happy New Year!! xx

My favourite moments in 2007 - there have been so many! Ry moving to England on his birthday! Going up the Eiffel Tower, disovering Ryan Cabrera (thanks danny! ) cycling in Amsterdam, swimming with the fishes in the Red Sea. I loved our trip to Spain, the best bit being dashing home to get a flight to London ASAP!! Im joking, my favourite bit was learning Spanish in the Tapas bar, gigglying and slurring nos da estro?? something like that !! The second part of 2007 rushed by in such a flash, we have done so many things. Ive learnt so much about myself and what I really want in my life. Ive never been happier and im a really lucky girl..Its important to appreciate life and ive really learnt that this year. Everyday I smile and have fun with Ry! I feel so happy he moved here and I cant wait until we leave England for good!

Although its not always that clear how you feel its important to reflect and enjoy the good times to the full. Why do I enjoy my new life with Ry?? ... "Because its funny!"

I got a great new cook book for Christmas from James - its Jamie Olivers "Jamie at home" I have spent the whole day in bed feeling like hell. Mum bought back a cold/flu from Africa which I have managed to catch.. :( i'm feeling quite sorry for myself! so i thought i would update my blog - what a great thing this is! Last night i went and saw my sister and her boyfriend they cooked a wonderful meal, and to return the favour and as a going away treat I am making a big feast for everyone tomorrow night (if i can get out of bed! ) Jen and James are going to Canada for a month to perfect their snowboarding skills and learn how to teach others, im not a huge snow fan but everyone else is!! I know they will have a great time and we will miss them!
So i have been looking through my new cook book and i found a great dessert - Creamy rice pudding with the quickest strawberry Jam, sounds delicious! For mains im making "Beautiful courgette carbonara"

I hate being in bed, i feel so lame and want to be up doing stuff but cant bring myself to just yet.....I have been reading and watching loads of films, right now im watching Titanic, it always always makes me cry, Beck and i saw it 3 times at the cinema and i balled each time.:)

The next few days im hoping to be really proactive, i have got all of my books i want to sell and am trying to have a new year clean out, I think now is a good time to do these kind of things. I also need to follow up with some of Joeys hen do arrangements. I found them a really beautiful guest book yesterday which they love! So im not doing too badly in my duties so far....

Things are changing

Today was a great christmas day, but really made me realise how much all of our lives have changed and moved on. Life is always changing and it makes me sad to think those times are now going to be only a memory.
Im not the 7 year old little girl who loves Christmas anymore, no longer is Christmas what it was. I feel in limbo at this stage in my life. Im no longer a child but in some ways i still get treated like one. I dont have my own space, or life really. Im hoping 2008 will be my year to really branch out and challenge myself. I need and love my family so much but things will never be how they were before and I have to deal with that and move on...There is so much to look foward to and strive for, today was a very happy day and it was great all laughing and enjoying having each other around. Tomorrow we are off to see the cousins, it should be another fun day...
I feel grateful for the wonderful family I have and all the love we share

Italia!

Today has been a good day, not only is work slowing down for Christmas, Ry and I decided to book ourselves our second trip for next year! - a little early Christmas present to ourselves... We are going to Italy! :)

Im so excited, I have always wanted to go to Italy I have been once before but we went to a ski resort so it wasnt the real Italy.
We decided to go to Venice over May day and then to get a train to Rome to see all the sites. Venice has been in my mind alot lately as ive been reading this great book called The Love Academy, its set in Venice and although it sounds really cheesy.. it is but I love it! Belinda Jones is my favourite authour I just love her books. So anyway Ry can thank Belinda for my sudden need to go to Venice...

Christmas Party !!

Last night was the Goldman Sachs operations Christmas party. The theme was Bond and the venue was right by the Tower of London. Ry and I had a lot of fun dancing - him more so than me! He loves to shake it on the dance floor! Anyway it was a great night spent, eating, drinking and talking with all of the people we met in New York. It bought back memories of how we met and how our story has unfolded. It was great to have an occasion to really dress up and I thought we did quite well compared to our usual attire. After the party last night there were a few tired faces this morning at work!

Tonight we went and saw a few live bands play down in Leicester Square which was fun. The weekend is only just beginning, it hasn't sunk in that its Christmas in a week or so!! Better hit the shops this weekend.

Joeys Hen do

So I have finally started organising my sister Joey's Hen do. I never thought it could be this tough! As I was elected Chief Bridesmaid after I insisted I was the best one for the job im now feeling a bit lacking.. maybe Jen could of sorted this stuff out way better than me! Anyway so now I have to arrange the restuarant including belly dancers, Tarot reading, shisha, the nightclub after.. the transport.. the hotel! The list goes on and on! At least I have until May to get it all finalised.

Im really excited though and i'm glad im doing my bit. I cannot wait to be her bridesmaid, Jo is a beautiful, wonderful sister and I cant wait to see her walking down the ailse next year.

A reflection of my emotions

Looking at my blog page always puts a smile on my face. I love to write and look at all the wonderful pictures and memories of places I have visited. I remember meeting Ry's family and not wanting my picture taken! I think it just takes me a while to get out of my skin a bit. I think occasionally these feelings overcome me and I dont always know how to reflect on my good emotions rather than the ones that bring me down.

Im feeling quite low right now, although on the surface I seem to have it all, things arent always what they appear to be. I think everyone has insecurities and problems they have to overcome... I hate the feeling of being out of control of my emotions but feeling like that just makes it worse. I need to be real with myself and not keep dragging my thoughts down.

Tonight I had some honest and caring words from the one that I love. I promise to take your advice and use the strength you have given me.

To travel or not to travel..

So far this year I have been to Utah, including Las Vegas, then to New York City followed again by Utah then onto Egypt then Amsterdam, Paris ( my favourite) and a tour of Spain (Granada, Barcelona, Valencia).. I think we have done pretty well!!!!

2008 should bring another load of magical experiences.. it gets me thinking everyday at my boring desk while im staring at my two screens why dont we go travelling? All around us people seem to be moving in, getting married and having babies.. not that I am ready for any of that yet.. I know I need to experience the world and all the amazing sites there are to see... but there is always a but - how can we afford a 5star tour of the world?? Goldman dont pay that well!

So maybe I will read this and realise i'm grateful for my life, my friends, Ryan and all the crazy things we have achieved so far.
